Job Description:
Serves as Field Maintenance Manager (North) over the electric substation facilities and transmission lines maintenance mission. Plans, coordinates, and maintains transmission lines, right-of-way, substations, switching stations, meters, relays, power system control, related facilities, and customer equipment; advises about maintenance; organizes maintenance and construction activities; participates in design, construction, facility commissioning, transfer inspections and field reviews; initiates system additions and/or modifications; tests and investigates equipment malfunction or failure; determines the extent of damage and adequacy of system features; recommends and oversees implementation of system solutions; ensures maintenance procedures and activities comply with environmental regulations; maintains detailed equipment and activity records for reporting environmental compliance activities; administers the safety program; reports significant events, work status, current and pending Western facilities, systems maintenance and operations requirements; formulates, recommends and implements comprehensive annual and special work program, long-range goals, plans and operating policies; prepares, justifies, administers the budget; collaborates with other Western offices; Federal, State, and local agencies; Western customers; and other organizations and individuals concerned with Western’s activities.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of project management methods, practices, and procedures to oversee management of electrical, field headquarters, building and/or addition design, construction, modification, and inspections.
- Knowledge of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Commission (NERC); Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC), and other reliability standards.
- Knowledge of Safety orders and regulations, power outage and system emergency planning in order to develop to ensure compliant activities and operations, and to develop and implement emergency plans maintaining uninterrupted services, minimizing outages and restoring power systems.
