The DB2 z/OS Product Support Team is looking for a new team member! Join this collaborative team and help support numerous business critical application areas throughout the Enterprise. Among the many vital responsibilities of ensuring the ongoing, successful operation of the key systems that drive State Farm’s business, as a DB2 for z/OS Analyst, you can expect your role to include the following:
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new DB2 development and function to determine the impact to infrastructure and applications.
- Ensure DB2 remains up and running for all of State Farm’s customers by managing the installation, maintenance and support of DB2 and related tools on the z/OS platform.
- Participate in periodic Disaster Recovery exercises; be available on an occasional, rotating basis to support the 24×7 availability of DB2 systems.
- Build, support and deploy tools, products and automation
- Assist DB2 Developers and DBAs in using DB2 and related products
- Troubleshoot product issues reported by users or pro-actively detected.
- Work with vendors such as IBM and BMC on deploying new product releases, fixes and maintenance.
- Monitor DB2 for stability and recommend/implement actions to address issues.
Qualification & Experience:
- Strong communication skills and a customer service mindset
- Proficiency in JCL
- Strong problem solving skills to address system issues and DB2 specific errors
- Experience installing DB2 and related products
- Experience with SMP/e is a plus
- Experience with DB2 system backup and recovery
- Ability to code in REXX for new software deployment, disaster recovery and internal tools
- Minimum of 3 years work experience maintaining DB2 infrastructure
- Strong ISPF skills
