Job Description:

Responsible for and provides daily supervision, coordination and technical expertise for Transmission Compressor Station’s measurement and instrumentation personnel. Coordinates activities with Engineering, Technical Services, and Instrumentation Staff, while directing daily activities related to gas measurement, control, and instrumentation. Provides technical expertise to customers and Company inquires on measurement and control. Manages projects or portions thereof.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains strong financial performance of the District, provides input and/or develops District budget. Provides input and counsel to District Operations Manager for resources allocation.
  • Directs daily measurement and control activities necessary for the district’s operation and maintenance plan, ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies. Is responsible for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of all district gas measurement, control, and instrumentation devices
  • Provides on-call support by participating in the District management on call rotation
  • Hires, trains, motivates, and appraises the performance of direct reports. Deals with emergency situations with regard to public, employee, and property safety. Maintains safe working conditions and prepares applicable personnel record forms.
  • Responsible for District’s measurement and regulator records control system master records (Maximo).
  • Directs daily measurement and control activities necessary for District compliance with federal, state, local, and company policies to ensure gas quality standard compliance from local gas producers commodity deliveries into the Company’s facilities. Ensures this producer gas is properly odorized before it enters the Company’s system.
  • Directs the installation and maintenance of System Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) equipment for Transmission Gas Operations within the District
  • Fully supports the values and initiatives of the organization. Drives employee accountability and responsibility in the areas of safety, environmental compliance, and job performance. Continually encourages self-directed work teams. Provides training, coaching, and counseling in these areas, including technical skill development to direct non-management reports.
  • Provides planning input for special design of district measurement, control, and instrumentation facilities. Directs installation, set-up and calibration of pressure limiting stations and medium and large industrial MSA’s.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of project management theories and concepts, engineering practices and concepts and cost analysis, and the ability to apply this knowledge in daily operations. Able to identify and resolve conflicts in the scheduling, or the relationship of interdependent functions such as cost, schedule, and quality parameters. Able to work in groups and lead groups.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of automated gas control and data acquisition equipment, related tools including computer hardware and software, procedures and methods related to gas system control functions and technology
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of gas measurement and regulation equipment, related tools, and procedures and methods related to gas measurement function.
  • Must be able to travel and work extended hours.
  • DOT Safety Sensitive position, subject to random drug testing.
  • Basic knowledge of business mathematics to develop budget.
  • Possess strong leadership skills to enable planning coordinating and facilitating issues in operations and employee development. Able to lead by example fostering a mature, ethical work group.
  • Able to assess the financial impact of programs on the company and its operations, company facilities, operating procedures and philosophies. Able to review complex problems and propose innovative solutions.
  • Must have valid California driver’s license.
  • Proficient in oral and written communications. Ability to effectively communicate with people to supervise personnel

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in measurement operations, maintenance, and customer contact required.
  • 8 years of experience working and maintaining instrumentation and control systems found within a compressor station. Preferred.
  • Experience with programming automation equipment via PLCs. Preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
