Job Description:

Assume all project management responsibilities relating to material traceability, accounting, document verification, and all other project closeout responsibilities from the project handoff from construction back to planning. Ensure all federal/state guidelines are met and coordinate with engineering firms and various internal departments to complete the project reconciliation process.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responds to CPUC and Intervenor data requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties)
  • Leads post-construction meetings to gain a greater understanding of project involvement and review field documentation (weld maps, inspector dailies, redlines, PCMR’s, hydrotest documentation, etc.).
  • Creates budget forecasts for project closeout purposes
  • Coordinates all activities leading to the successful completion of tasks including, scoping, permitting, project governance and design for project closeout. Enforces project closeout (Bundle A/ Bundle B) policies and procedures. Reviews material traceability documentation and verify that all documents meet the specifications and requirements laid out in the gas standards.
  • Acts as liaison between SCG Engineers (Design Drafting and Pipeline Design) and Project Managers/Engineering Firms to provide instruction and guidance in regards to designs/drawings and design data sheets to verify that material strength meets company requirements for pipe grade, wall thickness, and maximum operating pressures. Directs Project Managers and outside engineering services in regards to creating completion sketches/as-builts and survey data files. Reviews and approves engineering designs/drawings
    Provides oversight of the Project Specialist — review work and schedule; working with Project Managers, handle inquiries from the contractors on Change Order Process and Amendments. Manages a team of 7-8 external specialists aiding in data mining and project verification.
  • Gathers data and prepare project packages. Reviews projects for acceptance and assess accuracy and completeness by verifying field documentation.
  • Recommends modifications to Gas Standards that reflect regulatory changes, and create new policies and procedures, or provide recommendations in regards to altering/clarifying existing project closeout and design procedures. Participates in, and provides technical input to, review of proposed changes in regulatory requirements affecting codes and standards. Coordinates with various other departments within the Company as needed to meet project and communications objectives while being the primary contact for all activities related to the assignment

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for Gas operations.
  • Knowledge of SCG accounting requirements.
  • Basic understanding of planning and construction activities.
  • Strong computer skills and thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Access.
  • Ability to make sound decisions regarding project closeout activities.
  • Must possess strong listening, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to analyze complex data, manage projects and have knowledge of Gas Distribution operations.
  • Ability to develop and deliver projects using leading-edge technology.
  • Requires very strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability to effectively work with employees at all levels as well as to lead and inspire a diverse workforce through a dynamic work environment.
  • Must demonstrate solid project management skills with ability to multi-task and manage multiple small to large projects.

Qualification & Experience:

  • 4 years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business administration, engineering, project management or related field or equivalent field operations work experience. Required
