Job Description: SoCalGas is looking for mechanically inclined and tool-oriented individuals who have an aptitude for diagnostic and repair work, while delivering first-rate customer service. With pay starting at $39.52/hr. up to $44.00/hr. over a two-year progression, we are offering the right candidate an opportunity providing you with training to become a safe and efficient Station Technician; skills that will prepare you for a career with SoCalGas. Current opening is at our location in Needles. This is a DOT position. Job Responsibilities: Assists with the installation, removal, repair, and calibration of cathodic protection equipment on Company pipelines. Takes routine cathodic protection reads and assists troubleshooting. Performs scheduled and routine inspection and basic maintenance on equipment such as gas engines, turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, boilers, and auxiliary equipment in a compressor station. Starts, stops, operates, inspects, maintains, and performs basic repairs on compressor station and underground storage equipment in accordance with established operating and maintenance procedures. Prepares various Company forms and, through sketches and written reports, documents work performed, changes made, and conditions found. Performs driver inspection on vehicles and construction equipment. Detects unusual conditions such as leaks, damage or defective equipment, unsafe conditions, etc., reports findings to maintenance personnel or takes corrective action to repair. On some assignments, drives heavy duty vehicles such as dump trucks and boom trucks and operates construction equipment such as cranes. Performs preventative maintenance inspections and basic repairs on main engines, auxiliary and standby equipment, etc. Disassembles and assembles equipment, replaces, adjusts, cleans and lubricates all types of compressor station and underground storage equipment. Conducts water analysis test on open and closed water systems. Add chemicals to maintain corrosion control and proper pH balance in accordance with established instructions. Operates a wide range of pneumatic, hydraulic, and manual tools. Installs and operates basic tapping and pressure control equipment. Safely uses, handles, stores, and disposes of hazardous materials and hazardous waste.
