Job Description:

The Coroner Division of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s-Coroner Department is recruiting for Autopsy Assistant Trainees who learn to assist pathologists in conducting autopsies; maintain the forensic facility, including tools, instruments and equipment; and transport human remains.

Job Responsibilities:

• Applicants selected for this position must pass a background investigation and medical examination including drug screening.
• Training will be provided online and administered at an ARMC and/or County training facility. Applicants will be required to report to the worksite for in-class training for up to 8 hours a day while adhering to COVID-19 safety/social distancing protocols.
• A valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance is required at time of hire.
• Applicant may need to travel to Wisconsin by airplane for training on an as needed. basis. Travel expenses will be paid for by the County of San Bernardino.
• Incumbents must be willing to commit to this project during the implementation of this system which is expected to last 2 years.

Job Requirements:

• Option A: Six (6) months of full-time equivalent work experience assisting with autopsies in a forensic pathology/morgue setting. Experience must have been obtained within the last three (3) years, at a minimum of 20 hours/week.
• Option B: Fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units of completed college coursework in forensic , medical , or mortuary science ; natural , life , or health science . A list of coursework must be submitted with the application if an associate’s degree or higher has not been conferred.
  Note: Criminal Justice courses are not considered qualifying.
• Option C: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience working in any of the following fields: funeral home, mortuary, Sheriff Coroner, Hospital Morgue, or Medical Examiner. AND nine (9) semester (13 quarter) units of completed college coursework.

Qualification & Experience:

•  One (1) year of experience as an Epic RN Analyst I with ARMC.
•  One (1) year of experience as an RN Analyst on an Epic implementation team.
•  One (1) year of experience as an RN Analyst providing user support for Epic Systems.
