Job Description:

The Product Analyst is responsible for working with the product owner to document the strategy, vision and roadmap of a product assuring alignment with business goals and objectives.  You are responsible for authoring user stories and grooming the backlog for a product team to ensure that features and functionality align with business stakeholder expectations.  You are assigned to a specific software product and/or project from inception through to delivery and you collaborate with various roles from Delivery, Product, Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure and Security to define and implement product features.  You also work with the product team to investigate and solve business problems.  The role supports creation of all product owner deliverables to assure alignment with best practices/principles and company technology vision. The role requires strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.  The Product Analyst reports to a product manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Document cross team dependencies to prevent impediments and foster collaboration.
  • Work with the product owner to understand customer expectations, requirements and business values for platform features.
  • Apply analytical skills to evaluate and document accurate business requirements and present these requirements in a manner that is concise, measurable and flexible enough to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Document all product/application decisions for the scrum team during sprint planning.
  • Document business workflows, gather and analyze requirements, and serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and the product development team.
  • Participate in planning sessions to create a feature-based roadmap; document objectives and milestones discussed by all relevant stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Participate in milestone demonstrations with stakeholders.
  • Author user stories with sufficient details and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the Product Owner.
  • Document risks, and escalate when necessary in collaboration with the Product Owner.
  • Document scope and groom the product team backlog on a regular basis.

Job Requirements:

  • Able to collaborate with persons at all levels of responsibility in the Information Technology and Corporate organizations to formulate, communicate and implement enterprise technical strategies.
  • Working knowledge and ability to engage and empathize with the customer, putting their wants and needs at the heart of all products; ability to leverage information to create customized guest solutions.
  • Working knowledge of methodologies, tools, and techniques for managing software products at all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Working knowledge and ability to utilize various tools and techniques for ensuring product health, reliability, availability and maintainability.
  • Working knowledge and experience in the Travel / Hospitality industry is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of the business aspects and operation of a software product; knowledge of the install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Strong technology background in software development & platforms.
  • Able to conduct the analysis for engineering problems with many individuals which leads to consensus on solutions.
  • Working knowledge and experience with software development lifecycle methods (e.g., agile)
  • Working knowledge and experience in helping customers install, integrate, and operationalize software products or systems.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Proven ability to facilitate and and communicate effectively in both an interpersonal and/or group setting.
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or any related discipline.
  • Preferred 1-3 years work experience as a Product Analyst and/or Product Owner in Software Engineering / Information Technology or related area.
