Job Description: The Senior Accountant II, Technical Accounting is responsible for assisting the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting with a combination of duties including but not limited to those described below. This role will be part of the Technical Accounting Group that partners with various finance and business teams to ensure they are provided accurate accounting guidance to drive the business forward. This role will assist in the research, interpretation, and practical application of accounting guidance for both new and existing accounting standards. The ideal candidate is familiar with quarterly and annual SEC filings (i.e., 10-Qs, 10-K), and a self-starter that is passionate about diving into technical accounting subjects such as leases, revenue recognition, variable interest entities, business combinations, debt/equity instruments, and PP&E to name a few. Job Responsibilities: Evaluate transaction impacts for Return on Invested Capital (ROIC), EPS, Critical Accounting Policies, Statement of Cashflows, and other Company Metrics/Disclosures. Participate in quarterly and annual technical accounting projects such as impairment, embedded derivatives, and reportable segment reviews. Draft position papers addressing the accounting for significant transactions, including financing arrangements, joint ventures, and several other types of transactions. Monitor new accounting pronouncements, assist in implementing new standards, and draft relevant disclosures for SEC filings (10-Qs and 10-Ks). Participate in recurring meetings with various finance and business teams such as Destination Development, including preparation of agenda and monitoring progress of contract reviews. Assist SEC reporting team as needed including review/preparation of disclosure checklists and other analysis supporting SEC filings. Interact with individuals throughout the company to understand fact patterns underlying various transactions and provide real-time accounting feedback. Participate in preparation of the Quarterly Technical Accounting Update, including developing content and presenting to a 30+ person audience. Assist in the preparation of new or amended accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP. Research technical accounting questions and provide prompt assistance/responses to address internal accounting consultations. Job Requirements: Ability to manage deadline requirements and multi-task projects. Strong critical-thinking and detail-oriented skills. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in active and good standing. Comfortable using and learning technology (e.g., Microsoft Office products, Workiva, Essbase, HFM). Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with experience in presenting ideas/concepts to varying levels of management. Ability to interact and develop strong partnerships with varying levels of management. Qualification & Experience: Experience in performing US GAAP technical accounting research and resolving technical accounting issues. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Advanced educational degrees (i.e., MBA) will be considered a plus. Minimum of three years related work experience, with Big 4 public accounting experience preferred but not required.
