Job Description:

This position supports the Supervisor, Crew Claims, who is responsible for the oversight and direction of pre-litigation claims against all brands. This position evaluates exposure of assigned crew legal claims, sets claims reserves, and directly communicates with Claimant’s attorneys, and negotiates settlements. This position also serves to oversee management of all assigned claims, including evaluating and reporting all claims to the Club, working with other departments such as Human Resources and Global Security to investigate claims, supporting counsel with the defense of litigated claims, attending mediations, working with the Case Manager on cases that are currently undergoing medical care, and also overseeing Property Damages claims from the ships.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supports counsel with the defense of litigated claims.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Assists with the oversight of non-litigated crew claims for all brands.
  • Directly corresponds with Claimant’s attorneys and negotiates settlements.
  • Works with the Case Manager on cases that are currently undergoing medical care.
  • Negotiates settlements.
  • Evaluates exposure of crew legal claims and sets claims reserves.
  • Attends mediations.
  • Evaluates and reports all claims to the Club.
  • Provides support and reports to the Supervisor, Crew Claims for crew member claims.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to articulate verbally and in writing as negotiator and presenter. Proficiency in Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and ability to learn RCL-specific computer programs
  • Knowledge of both Admiralty Law, Personal Injury claim evaluation, and Employment/Labor law, preferred.
  • Must be able to travel domestically to attend settlement conferences, and for other circumstances that may arise. Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Must have strong negotiation and consultative skills with the ability to interact effectively with all internal and external business partners. Requires effective and efficient communication skills to resolve disputes and facilitate case management.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Associate Degree or equivalent, or higher-level degree.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as claims adjuster, preferred.
