Job Description:

Manages the design and construction of generation, transmission, substation, and distribution projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope. Performs project management activities including managing project budgets, creating and maintaining project schedules, managing project scopes, managing project risks, monitoring and tracking projects, and reporting project status. Ensures project safety, compliance with the AFE policy, and effective communications and coordination with customers, key stakeholders, and management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for oversight of design, construction, and commissioning of large or complex system projects.
  • Typically will handle projects from $2M to $20M with higher complexity and risk (C projects). Higher complexity projects could include quality/reliability issues to a large number of customers, high financial risk, significant self-perform/oversight required, complex siting and land acquisition, moderate environmental/regulatory permitting, and/or multiple configuration changes.
  • Projects typically involve 3-4 disciplines or asset types (e.g. distribution, transmission, substation, controls, communication, boiler, turbine, etc.). May work on projects with lower complexity and risk as needed.
  • Ensures compliance with AFE policy.
  • Responsible for funding, financial analysis, and reporting status on each project.
  • Develops project management plans that include project scope verification, project schedules, timelines, milestones, budget estimates, cash flows, work breakdown structures, and resource requirements.
  • Develops timetables and priorities for the execution of all design and construction activities of the project.

  • Expertise and ability to apply the full suite of PM Standard Operating Procedure(SOP’s).
  • Demonstrated organizational, prioritization, and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of OG&E electrical system (generation, transmission, substation, distribution) including design, construction, maintenance, and operations.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering combined with Six (6) years of related experience (e.g., Project Management, Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, or Utility Operations) and Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) OR.
  • Bachelor’s Degree combined with Nine (9) years of related experience (e.g., Project Management, Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, or Utility Operations.) OR.
  • Twelve (12) years of related experience (e.g., Project Management, Utility Engineering, Utility Construction, or Utility Operations) and Project Management Certification (PMP).
  • Two (2) years’ Project Manager experience managing Transmission/Substation.
  • Construction/Distribution/Generation projects (may be concurrent with foundational experience listed above).
  • Valid state driver’s license.
