Job Description: This position is located in the National Weather Service (NWS), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), Aviation Weather Center (AWC), with one vacancy in Kansas City, MO. Job Responsibilities: Prepare and issue forecasts for the service area concerning a number of hazardous weather conditions, such as severe storms, turbulence, icing, or aviation weather warnings and forecasts. Lead or participate in the conduct of studies and developmental projects designed to capitalize on or incorporate the benefits of new science, technology, or techniques into National Center of Environmental Protection (NCEP) operations. Provide weather advice and guidance critical to decision makers during high impact weather situations, ensuring adequate access of weather guidance to the general public, and to commercial, transportation, and general aviation interests. Serve as the shift leader responsible for quality and timeliness of all Aviation Weather Center (AWC) forecasts and service products. Job Requirements: Must be suitable for Federal employment.
