This position is located within the Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS), Joint Polar Satellite Systems Office (JPSS) with one vacancy located in Lanham, MD.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the integration and execution of the program, flight project and ground project activities and resources across JPSS.
  • Resolve technical problems in areas where guidelines or precedents may be lacking and negotiates with other technical experts to resolve technical aspects of controversial cases.
  • Plan and execute the operating budget within target thresholds and ensures financial reporting and budget activities are accurate and timely.
  • Oversee the product processing systems to distribute mission critical environmental data to support NOAA mission goals.
  • Develop working relationships within JPSS components and share information and resources to help accomplish NESDIS and NOAA wide goals. Communicates with internal and external customers to further NESDIS objectives, and serves on committees and special teams to help provide solutions or meet objectives for NOAA and JPSS.
  • Serve as a Supervisor responsible for planning and distributing work to be accomplished by subordinates; sets and adjusts short- and long-term priorities, and preparing schedules for the completion of work; finds ways to improve production or increase the quality of the work; evaluates the work performance of subordinates, providing technical oversight and instruction and addressing poor performance as part of the performance process.
