Job Description: As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the team in Cary, NC, you will be responsible for participating in technical design and development of cross functional, multi-platform application systems to solve complex business problems. The role will be a highly visible hands-on technology driver supporting our platform framework components by creating innovative solutions in support of the unique products being envisioned for the business. You will provide technical support to project teams throughout project lifecycle around technology platforms, solution design, security, debugging, profiling, and performance tuning. Job Responsibilities: Monitor operating efficiency of existing application systems. Maintain records to document program development and revisions. Provide technical support to technical vendor resources. Design and code complex programs; creates automated test transactions and runs tests; revises as necessary. Provide technical and work guidance to a team of SDE’s, Consultants and/or offshore resources. Work closely with Enterprise Architecture to ensure the solution and design are in alignment with MetLife IT roadmap. Job Requirements: 6+ years’ experience in Software Development with strong hands-on experience in performing the following: Conduct project planning activities in an Agile environment. Build enterprise scale distributed applications with extensive SDLC knowledge and Agile methodologies. Build data persistence applications using MongoDB, CosmosDB, HBase, Solr and Redis for caching. Automate application deployment, scaling and management using Docker, Docker Swarm or Kubernetes container orchestration technologies. Implement microservices using Sprint Boot, Groovy and JSON. Support complete adoption of Cloud Native technologies for Azure and/or GCP cloud providers. Design and create REST APIs using Java/J2EE and Groovy. Build asynchronous messaging systems using RabbitMQ and Azure Service Bus to provide queuing. Proven Agile, Lean, DevOps knowledge and experience. Qualification & Experience: Experience working with offshore teams. Experience in working with Istio Service Mesh within Kubernetes ecosystem. Experience in working within Financial Services, Insurance and/or Banking institutions. Strong Technical experience with software that are enabled via cloud-based solution or providers. Experience in using application logging and monitoring tools like AppD/Splunk and Azure AppInsights.
