Job Description:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for managing the design, development, implementation, management and support of non-production material strategic sourcing plans for a set of products and/or services that are utilized nationally across various Daimler U.S. sites and locations. The NCB will provide leadership from a procurement perspective, and influence business partners to consider new and creative strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular supplier performance and strategy reviews with stakeholders, establish improvement expectations and follow up on progress.
  • Closely work with stakeholders to identify and introduce new supplier technologies and advancements in materials, services, processes, equipment to build competitive advantage for the company by reducing cost, improving quality and/or shortening product development lead-time.
  • Responsible for all tactical and strategic supplier management activities, including strategic understanding of supplier markets and technology trends, supplier selection and sourcing process management, price control and negotiations.
  • Build the organization’s competitive position through continuous improvement in cost, quality and overall supplier value.
  • Deliver a sourcing strategy designed to meet the dynamic requirements of the business.
  • Develop, negotiate, and implement supply agreements based on continuous improvements in all areas of the business.
  • Develop, lead and execute project plans for the assigned commodities to provide transparency, act as a communication liaison with stakeholders and keep projects on track.
  • Develop and manage national sourcing strategy (including the creation and maintenance of supplier list by commodity), drive cost optimization initiatives through design, competitive leverage, insourcing / outsourcing, process improvements
  • Become a subject matter expert recognized by business partners at all U.S. entities, and a valued member of the team.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong business acumen balanced with technical aptitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Requires strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
  • Core procurement experience in the areas of negotiations, complex contracting, stakeholder management and sourcing strategy development.
  • Co-Op/ internship and/ or up to 2 years’ professional experience in the following area(s): analyzing and negotiating contracts.
  • Must be able to perform duties with moderate to low supervision.
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,Supply Chain/Operations Management or related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders across a wide and complex international organization.
  • Results-driven.
  • Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication and presentation skills are required to support working in project environments that includes internal, external and customer teams.
