Job Description:

Under general supervision, this position is responsible to communicate and resolve all problems between parts suppliers and all Mercedes-Benz internal partners, MBUSA, GLC, MB Canada, MB Mexico, and MBUSI concerning Service Parts packaging and shipping of parts to ensure the functionality of the packaging process and compliance to Mercedes-Benz packaging standards for all MBUSI product line parts; provides ongoing launch support of new parts supply during the life-cycle by maintaining up-to-date files on packaging standards.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collect information for decision making process and management information.
  • Support corporate identity of packaging and changes during the life cycle of each part.
  • Monitor the activity of other packaging material sources for lowest cost from current source.
  • Provide forecasting data to packaging material suppliers to maintain a Just-in-Time (JIT) shipment flow orders and inventory to minimize investment.
  • Process packaging claims from markets with corrective actions to suppliers and MBUSI management.
  • Facilitate logistic needs between all partners in the distribution network.
  • Monitor incoming parts from suppliers to ensure packaging plans are correct, parts are damage free, and shipping capacity has been maximized.
  • Evaluate and define future logistic scenarios to optimize parts handling costs.
  • Drive development of new technology to resolve packaging related issues and provide value added innovations.
  • Provide parts packaging documentation cost planning, and installation of service parts pre-packaging standards together with MBUSA, DPTS, Global Logistics Center (GLC), MBCanada and MBMexico for service parts supply of the MBUSI product line parts to the world wide Daimler service organization.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Certified in HAZMAT packaging and shipping .
  • Understanding of packaging materials capabilities and equipment, packing testing procedures, and aspects of new packaging systems.
  • Experience in the automotive industry
  • Co-Op/ internship and/ or up to 2 years’ professional experience in the following area(s): Packaging Science or Packaging Engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science/ Packaging Engineering or in a related area, and/or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong software skills in all MS office software such as Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Possess a basic knowledge regarding the effect of storage of selected packaging material
  • Ability to establish dimensional data on parts of various shapes and sizes (ability to identify dimensional from blueprints will be utilized)
  • Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills
