The B11 Group is looking for a high motivated, productive, and multi-talented scientist to pursue research within a growing team of scientists working on mass spectrometry analysis of biomolecules. The laboratory focuses on host response, mechanism of action, and biomarker identification due to various chemical, biological, and radiological insults. Specifically the laboratory is seeking to advance the mass spectrometry multi-omics research space developing holistic workflows in proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics. Successful candidates should have experience leading and working across multiple programs simultaneously.The candidate should be equally comfortable working independent and leading a team.This includes other scientists, post-doctoral researchers, technicians, and students.You will be expected to publish scientific results in high-impact peer reviewed journals and present your work at conferences including international venues.The candidate will be expected to support current efforts and propose new efforts internally and externally. Job Responsibilities: Demonstrated expertise in analytical chemistry Broad fundamental knowledge of mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography Expertise in analysis of biomolecules, including proteins, lipids, and metabolites Familiarity with robotic sample preparation for high sample volume throughput Applicants must have experience using, developing, and maintaining portable/miniaturized mass spectrometry systems and translating methods to these platforms from laboratory grade systems. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills which are demonstrated through leading roles (corresponding or first author) in scientific literature. Demonstrated record of interactions with government funding agencies, including funding processes for basic and applied science. Experienced serving as a principle investigator or co-investigator Experience with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various mass spectrometers including Thermo Fisher Orbitraps. Job Requirements: Education/Experience: Master’s Degree in a STEM field from an accredited college or university and 6 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Knowledge/experience in mass spectrometry based multi-omics, data acquisition methods, and interpretation of results. Experience with multiple ambient ionization techniques including MALDI, ESI, Nanospray, DBDI, SESI, and EI is a plus. Experience applying MS-based omics to samples derived from in vitro, in vivo, and organ-on-a-chip systems. Familiarity handling regulated hazardous waste per state and federal guidelines; chemical and biological.
