Job Description: The “Lead Imaging Sensor Engineer” position entails developing, implementing, and testing software, algorithms, and the latest hardware technology. Ideal candidates will have strong experience with the installation, calibration, operation, and maintenance of Camera sensors in an automotive application or military setting. Bridging the gap between the sensor hardware and the software processing is fundamental to the successful operation of an autonomous vehicle. This position enables the ability to craft new and novel technologies by merging ground-breaking Artificial Intelligence, more specifically, Machine Learning hardware to the latest advances in CMOS Imaging sensor technology to bring Vehicle Localization, Perception, Cognition, and Decision Making to an unprecedented level. Job Responsibilities: CMOS image sensor selection and system integration (modeling, simulation, placement, installation, and operation). In-vehicle experimental validation and testing. Maintain an expert level of knowledge in stereo, trinocular, and other emerging imaging technologies. Elicit requirements from various stakeholders to support the selection of CMOS image sensors for use in object detection, classification, tracking, intent prediction, and decision-making applications. Work closely with suppliers to obtain optimized image sensor solutions, provide sensor performance assessments, develop validation tests, etc. Support collaboration with the sensor modeling and perception teams, as well as other stakeholders across multiple organizations. Work closely with AVLLC team to deliver CMOS imaging sensing solutions across multiple applications supporting autonomous vehicles. Testing and optimization of existing software interfaces and algorithms. Develop and deploy quantitative sensor performance, validation/verification data and methods. Calibration of sensor modules and development of calibration tools. Qualification & Experience: 5+ years of experience developing, deploying, and testing CMOS imaging systems; 15+ years of experience developing, deploying, and testing CMOS imaging sensors/systems. Experience working in a team-based project from inception to demonstration across multiple disciplines, e.g. sensor hardware selection and interface implementation, data acquisition and analysis, mathematical modeling, algorithm development, application implementation, testing and evaluation. Master’s in electrical engineering, Physics, or related field. Strong optics background with a working knowledge of lens systems, physical optics, and geometrical optics. Systems engineering experience Experience working with CAN, UDP, TCP, I2C, SPI, I3C, MIPI, I2S and network routing. Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field. 1+ years of experience with programming in at least one relevant language (Python, R, C, Java, Ruby, C++, etc.). Familiarity with game engine (Unity 3D, Unreal) and/or other 3D visualization tools.
