Job Description:
Organizational Location: These positions are with the Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations – Headquarters, in various locations in the Nation Capitol Region (NCR).
Job Responsibilities:
- Participate closely with senior level management officials in developing and formulating substantive policy recommendation
- Monitor and evaluate the overall progress of policy initiatives
- Analyze the effect of proposed legislation and/or policies on HSI policies and programs; providing feedback and recommendations to senior management
- Provide authoritative, analytical reports on policy issues impacting HSI law enforcement programs
- Analyze and evaluate studies, proposals, and changes in policy an representing the interests of HSI on all program, policy and legislative issues for assigned areas; legislation submitted by top level officials from various federal agencies and/or organizations (e.g. the White House and the
- Congress, state and local governmental bodies, international law enforcement organizations, representatives from businesses in the private sector, et al) that relate to the law enforcement programs under your auspices
- Develop and maintain liaisons with government agencies, state and local government agencies, international law enforcement, HSI organizations and/or industry representatives on controversial and sensitive intelligence)
Job Requirements:

- Time in Grade: Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the Federal service. Time in grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
- Motor Vehicle Operation: You must possess a valid automobile driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- This position requires the selectee to carry a firearm. Any person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence cannot lawfully possess a firearm or ammunition (Title 18, U.S.C. Section 022 (g)(9)).
- Convictions of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence are disqualifying.
