Job Description: This position is located in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD), Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Office of Audit, in one of the regional or field offices. The OIG is an independent organization within HUD, responsible for performing audits, evaluations, inspections, investigations, and for preventing and detecting fraud, waste and abuse within HUD and its programs and operations. Job Responsibilities: Develop specific audit plans and milestones for completing the review. Plan, direct, control and coordinate all activities during assigned reviews. Perform qualitative and quantitative research in a collaborative environment for the purpose of gathering background and other information to learn the audit subject’s environment. Prepare reports and documents supporting work papers and documentation for the preparation, presentation and communication of work-results to the supervisor or manager. Provide input to team auditors concerning the interpretation and application of evaluation criteria, analysis of information gathered, tentative conclusions, and significance of findings for activity and HUD requirements and other applicable policies and practices. Use computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work. Job Requirements: Assisting more experienced auditors with conducting segments of audits; AND Preparing work papers using automated auditing software; AND Researching laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures. Education: One full year of graduate level education in a related field; or Superior Academic Achievement based on a bachelor's degree that is demonstrated through class standing (upper 1/3 of class); or grade point average (2.95/4.0 overall or 3.5/4.0 in major), or election to membership in a qualifying national scholastic honor society. (Attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit. You may qualify on a combination of education and experience. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent.
