Job Description:

Software Specialist for Android Compatibility Test will be an important member of our Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Infotainment group at GM Canada, which is part of the larger GM Global Engineering team. This Software Specialist role will be responsible for reviewing Android compatibility requirements, executing related testing, analyzing test results, and changing the code to solve failures related to compatibility test suites. This role will also design and develop the tools and scripts for automation of compatibility test workflow. This role will work closely with software development, test, integration, and program management teams during entire product lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Setup and configure necessary test equipment and environments for test execution and automation. Test environments may include simulation or target hardware.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of test process
  • Triage and support root cause analysis on defects
  • Execute Android compatibility test (e.g. CTS), identify failures and provide test report
  • Change and upstream code to solve failures related to compatibility test suites
  • Design and develop the tools/scripts to automate test workflow
  • Review Android compatibility requirements (e.g. CDD, GAS) with software development teams to ensure applicable requirements are compliant on Infotainment software programs

Qualification & Experience:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • 3+ years of software product development or testing experience on Linux-based embedded system
  • Good programming skills in common languages, such as Java, C++ or Python
  • 2+ years of experience in developing or testing Android code
  • Knowledge of Scrum/Agile software development process
  • Strong experience with test automation framework, tool development and scripting
  • Advanced degrees preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent field
  • Experience with vehicle communication network protocols (CAN, MOST etc) as a good plus
  • Solid knowledge of software development and test methodologies and tools
