Job Description:
The Product Development Manager will manage all day-to-day activities related to product development for their division by defining the Product Development master calendar, forecasting trends relevant to the division, leading the product development team to deliver consistently high-quality work, and ensuring that all new products align with the brand.
Job Responsibilities:
- Approve all new products during the pre-production stage before executive review; provide insight into accessory colors during pre-production
- Partner with executives to lead style-outs; attend all floor sets
- Attend OTB meetings with the merchandise/allocation teams to ensure the delivery of seasonal trends and products representing the Forever 21 brand
- Oversee the product development process for all assigned lines and/or styles
- Oversee the product development team to ensure that the development process is efficient and able to produce items that align with the executive’s vision
- Collaborate with apparel teams to develop and present trend options for Forever 21’s programs
- Oversee the department’s communication with Forever 21’s network of vendors, ensuring that our production and product-related requirements are being met
- Understand and forecast trends by category through competitor analysis including competitive shopping, attending fashion shows, and market research
Job Requirements:
- Must have strong problem-solving skills that allow for a proactive approach to the business and organizational skills necessary to complete multiple tasks within deadlines
- Must have a great eye for design
- Apparel Costing Capability – ability to work on prices, do cost engineering providing guide to vendors
- Must have the ability to track the latest trends and utilize this knowledge daily
- Must be able to lead and engage a team of product developers to consistently meet both quality and quantity requirement
Qualification & Experience:
- Experience to build manuals, SOP’s
- Knowledge of Raw Materials, Fabric/Trims.
- Must have extensive knowledge of trends, colors, and styles; experience in trend forecasting is critical to this role
- BFA or Fashion degree required
- Must have 10+ years of experience in product development with 5+ years of experience leading a product development team
