Job Description:

The Network Engineer position involves working hands-on to develop and enhance device-level to local networking solutions for Ford AV tech. Work with a tight-knit, cross-functional engineering team to develop solutions that enable communications functions that interface with vehicles, automation hardware, and Ford AV datacenters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procedures for configuration and testing of systems
  • Create and maintain quality documents and procedures for internal and external users
  • Perform a variety of network and VPN integrations related to the operation, performance, or availability of data communications networks.
  • Work with a cross functional AV team including perception, dev/ops, software developers, automation, security, systems engineering, and production / plant engineering personnel to implement state of the art networked automation projects
  • Present complex technology to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Perform hands-on integration, test and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and networking, from embedded device to vehicle to local/plant network
  • Perform high-level systems analysis, evaluation, integration, documentation, and implementation of very complex applications that require a thorough knowledge of administrative and technical skills.

Qualification & Experience:

  • Experience in working with Cisco CCNP, Aruba ACMP or Juniper JNCIP, VMWare/vShpere
  • Advanced degree in communications engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering fields
  • CCNA or equivalent certification
  • Experience in security protocols and threat assessment processes
  • 3+ years in network or systems engineering in a production environment (Linux & Windows)
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or related fields.
  • 2+ years experience with Python, C++, bash/powershell scripting, network configuration
  • Familiar with network automation methods/ software defined networking
  • Linux system administration experience; deep Linux proficiency
