Job Description:
The “Lead RADAR Engineer” position entails developing, implementing, and testing software, algorithms, and the latest hardware technology. Ideal candidates will have strong experience with the installation, calibration, operation, and maintenance of RADAR sensors in an automotive application or military setting. Bridging the gap between the sensor hardware and the software processing is fundamental to the successful operation of an autonomous vehicle. This position enables the ability to craft new and novel technologies by merging ground-breaking Artificial Intelligence, more specifically, Machine Learning hardware to the latest advances in RADAR technology to bring Vehicle Localization, Perception, Cognition, and Decision Making to an unprecedented level.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support collaboration with the sensor modeling and perception teams, as well as other stakeholders across multiple organizations.
- Work closely with suppliers to obtain optimized RADAR solutions, provide sensor performance assessments, develop validation tests, etc.
- Develop and deploy quantitative sensor performance, validation/verification data and methods.
- Testing and optimization of existing software interfaces and algorithms.
- Work closely with AVLLC team to deliver RADAR sensing solutions across multiple applications supporting autonomous vehicles.
- RADAR selection and system integration (modeling, simulation, placement, installation, and operation).
- Maintain an expert level of knowledge in 4D and other emerging RADR technologies and algorithms.
- Calibration of sensor modules and development of calibration tools.
- Elicit requirements from various stakeholders to support the selection of RADARs for use in object detection, classification, tracking, intent prediction, and decision-making applications.
- In-vehicle experimental validation and testing.
Qualification & Experience:
- Distributed Antenna Radar experience.
- 15+ years of experience developing, deploying, and testing radar systems.
- 15+ years of experience developing, deploying, and testing radar systems.
- Familiarity with game engine (Unity 3D, Unreal) and/or other 3D visualization tools.
- Experience working in a team-based project from inception to demonstration across multiple disciplines, e.g. sensor hardware selection and interface implementation, data acquisition and analysis, mathematical modeling, algorithm development, application implementation, testing and evaluation.
- Systems engineering experience.
- Strong RF background with a working knowledge of electronic scanned antennas, receivers, exciters, and digital signal processing.
- 1+ years of experience with programming in at least one relevant language (Python, R, C, Java, Ruby, C++, etc.).
- Master’s in electrical engineering, Physics, or related field.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field.
