Job Description:

As a Buyer, you will be the face of Purchasing both externally and into the Electrification Powertrain organisation and wider Ford team!

Job Responsibilities:

• Investigate asset specific capacities and annual output capability
• Develop and execute sourcing strategy for battery cell raw materials delivering a balanced portfolio of producing assets that meet Ford’s capacity, cost, timing, and ESG needs
• Purchasing representation at key internal stakeholder meetings, being the voice of the Purchasing team and the supply base implications.
• Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with Joint Venture partners and cross functional internal partners and customers
• Work with Product Development, Cell Supplier(s) and Cathode producer to establish material specifications and performance targets
• Analyse market supply/demand balances and deficit risks
• Manage relationships with existing and future material suppliers
• Interface with Ford Sustainability Group to ensure ethical sourcing practices are reflected in Ford’s existing supply chain

Job Requirements:

• Strong technical understanding of li-ion batteries and the materials & processes within the value chain
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience within battery raw material value chain, preferably with a commercial focus
• Self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attituded and able to work independently with little management support
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills
• Deemonstrable understanding of current challenges facing the automotive industry in the ICE to BEV transition and the role of Purchasing to support the business
• Ability to work in a team, experience of working in cross functional teams is beneficial
• Proven experience of presenting to Senior Management
• Proven ability to manage delivery to fixed deadlines and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with Internal and External Partners / Suppliers
• Proven experience in negotiating (both externally & internally)
