Ford Application – Software Test Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking exceptional candidates to join our growing Autonomous Vehicle (AV) business team for Terminal Traffic Management (TTM) Project! AVs are an important part of Ford’s future and we’re looking for the best and brightest.  The role will require critical thinking, problem solving capabilities, and a “get it done” attitude to help make strategic decisions that will enable Ford to be a leader in autonomy, connectivity, mobility, analytics and customer experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Translate prototype algorithm code into production-ready software
• Design and execute test cases for software verification and validation
• Participate in the design and implementation of core infrastructure in C++
• Work closely with the AV LLC team to deliver software solutions to support development of autonomous vehicle products
• Follow and help shape a process for rigorous production software development and delivery

Qualification & Experience:

• 6 + months experience designing and implementing software in C or C++ (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed).
• Experience with communications technologies and techniques, such as sockets, shared memory, TCP, UDP, etc.
• Familiarity with Service-oriented architecture
• Experience with communication protocols: CAN, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and/or Wi-Fi
• Experience developing for real-time systems
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics
• Experience developing with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Ruby, etc.
• 6 + months developing and deploying software for embedded devices (coursework/internship/co-op experience allowed).
• Experience with software version control tools such as git, svn, etc.
• Experience in developing multithreaded applications in POSIX compliant OS platforms
