Wildlife Department Jobs – R4 Coastal Fisheries Supervisor

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Environmental Program Manager the incumbent supervises work for the Coastal Fisheries Management and Regional Restoration Grant units. Supervised staff include Environmental Scientists, Fish and Wildlife Technicians, and other permanent, temporary, and contractual personnel engaged in these activities. Tasks involve resource assessment and recommendations, environmental review, generation and implementation of environmental documents, endangered species recovery planning, endangered species recovery implementation actions; management, restoration and protection of the fishery and their aquatic habitats and other aquatic resources and species, the CDFW trout stocking program, private aquaculture, and other permitting responsibilities. This involves frequent and detailed communication and coordination associated with great consequences of error, internally and with other State, federal and local agencies, and constituents. The incumbent also routinely prepares and presents oral and written presentations, has contract and fiscal management responsibilities, and has the authority and responsibility, in the interest of management, to direct, recruit, hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline employees, adjust employee grievances, or effectively recommend such actions.
