EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. Job Responsibilities: Exercising a broad range of managerial and supervisory authorities and responsibilities for a subordinate staff that directly support the HM Strategy for each disaster. Reviewing Preliminary Damage Assessments and other disaster data to determine extent and location of damages and type of projects that may need to be developed. Reviewing Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning. Identifying completed HM projects to determine effectiveness. Identifying needs and ensuring technical assistance is provided to States, Tribes, and local communities on HM grants and planning. Determines status of State, Tribal, and local government hazard mitigation plans. Job Requirements: Travel will be required. You must be a U.S. citizen to be considered for this position.
