Job Description: FBI Police Officers keep Bureau employees and facilities safe as first responders to any emergency that may arise, including traveling to duty stations in times of crisis. In this role, you will protect public safety by monitoring, reporting and investigating suspicious persons and situations, as well as identifying safety hazards and unusual or illegal activity in patrol areas. Bureau police respond to a variety of alarm situations; protect and safeguard information and material affecting national security and defense; and protect people and their civil rights from a wide variety of dangerous and hostile situations. Job Responsibilities: Investigate traffic accidents and other incidents to determine causes and to determine if a crime has been committed. Identify, pursue and arrest suspects and perpetrators of criminal acts. Provide public safety by maintaining order; responding to emergencies; protecting people and property; enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws; and promoting good community relations. Check for proper identification of pedestrian and vehicular traffic prior to admittance to secure space at stationary posts. Provide screening of vehicles for the detection of explosive devices. Record facts to prepare reports that document incidents and activities. Job Requirements: Must complete training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. Have one year of full-time professional work experience (see work experience waiver for exceptions). Become proficient in firearm and various weapon systems. Never have been convicted of a felony. Be in compliance with the FBI Employment Drug Policy. Be able to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance. Attend and pass the Police Officer Selection system (POSS) written test and panel interview. Meet the FBI’s Employment Eligibility requirements. Be a U.S. citizen. Qualification & Experience: Specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; as a military police officer; providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Education will be considered at the GS-7 only, if the applicant does not possess the specialized experience at the next lower grade level for the position.
