Job Description:

This position is located in the Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Region 2 area offices.  Selectee will be expected to report to one of the offices listed above.  This position is inside the bargaining unit. Additional selections may be made if funding allows.

Job Responsibilities:

  • As a Whistleblower Protection Program subject matter expert, participates in the monitoring and evaluation of the occupational discrimination investigation programs of the State Plans. Responsible for auditing whistleblower investigation case files during comprehensive state plan audits to determine conformity with approved federal guidelines.
  • Provides expert technical advice and assistance to lower-graded Investigators throughout the region during investigations, reviews investigatory files as assigned, and makes recommendations to the Regional Supervisory Investigator and the Assistant Regional Administrator to insure continuity of the program.
  • Serves as a witness before judicial hearings and trials, providing technical expertise concerning whistleblower investigation work.
  • Serves as a technical expert and as requested by the Assistant Regional Administrator will provide training and advice to investigators and other staff handling complex whistleblower investigations, and will perform audits for the regional whistleblower programs.
  • Conducts investigations of the most complex, difficult, or sensitive discrimination allegations region-wide under the whistleblower protection provisions of applicable statutes.
  • Cases may be of a highly controversial or sensitive nature, involve the most complex issues, or require unusual skill to obtain evidence.
  • Coordinates with other federal, state, local, or private investigatory agencies which may be involved in simultaneous investigations.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years old and a U.S. Citizen.
  • Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
  • Appointment to this position may require a background investigation.
  • Requires a valid drivers license.
