Job Description:

There is currently only one vacancy to be filled; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development of project proposals that summarize critical information relating to the objective, approach, funding, and expected results of proposed investigations.
  • Performs chemical analyses and procedures on a broad range of environmental samples including water, soil, sediment, rock, plant tissue, animal tissue, or a combination. Performs routine instrument maintenance to ensure proper performance needed for analyses.
  • Writes reports that include summary statements, data tabulations, descriptions of standard procedures, techniques utilized, and/or results and conclusions.
  • Performs calculations using various spreadsheet software to generate reliable data.
  • Conducts limited water-quality studies and investigations which includes measuring and monitoring the nutrient and radon levels or other constituents in well-defined ground water supplies.
  • Performs established chemical analyses and procedures on samples of limited matrices for trace organic constituents, which may include extraction, column chromatography, gas chromatography, elemental analysis, spectrophotometry, and/or gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Utilizes specialized techniques, such as liquid-liquid extraction or solid-phase extraction for isolation and concentration of trace constituents.
  • Operates government vehicle as an incidental driver.
