Job Description:
The Emergency Management Officer II performs task of the position to include achievement of criteria associated with compliance requirements of Denton County Emergency Operations Plan, inter-local agreements and grants or funding associated with Homeland Security, Citizen Corp, Emergency Preparedness, Fire, Hazardous Materials or Disaster. Evaluate functions currently occurring throughout Denton County to determine whether an emergency preparedness plan has been developed or should be developed. Evaluate current response strategy and tactics of the Office of Emergency Management.
Job Responsibilities:
- Participates in emergency preparedness drills or incidents to evaluate plan performance and to determine need for enhancement.
- Evaluates current response strategy and tactics of the Office of Emergency Management.
- Prepares enhancements to the response strategies and tactics for the Office of Emergency Management.
- Participates in emergency preparedness drills or incidents to evaluate plan performance and to determine need for enhancement.

- Manages and coordinates various County and Regional committees and organizations representing Denton County.
- Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc. to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in the field of emergency management and emergency services.
- Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Job Requirements:
Qualification & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required for this position and a minimum of three years of experience in fire, law enforcement, emergency medical services, emergency management, CERT/Volunteer management, and training; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Basic certifications from Texas Commission on Fire Protection, Building Codes and Construction preferred.
- Basic certification from Texas Commission on Law Enforcement preferred.
- Basic certification from Texas Department of Health, Emergency Management preferred.
- Trainer Certifications for CERT, CPR preferred. IS 100, 300, 400, 700, 800 preferred.
