Job Description: The City of Irvine seeks a seasoned individual to serve as an Equipment Operator I. Under the direction of the Street Maintenance Supervisor and Lead Street Maintenance Technician, the Equipment Operator I operates a variety of street maintenance vehicles and equipment. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for street sweeping activities on the City's residential streets. Job Responsibilities: Assist in trash and debris control, asphalt raking and other street maintenance activities as assigned. Operate a variety of assigned small and medium-sized equipment such as dump trucks, street sweepers, asphalt equipment, water trucks, rollers, small loaders and other equipment used to maintain roadbeds, landscapes and drainage systems. Primary responsibility will be street sweeping activities on the City's residential streets. Detect and report equipment malfunctions and breakdowns. Perform minor repair and routine maintenance tasks on equipment such as replacing brooms on street sweepers, checking for wear, and cleaning equipment. Job Requirements: Ability to work a flexible schedule. Two years street maintenance/construction experience, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. Possess, or ability to obtain, an appropriate valid California driver's license. Class B License highly desirable as it is required to operate street sweeper. Three years of experience operating and maintaining street sweepers on residential streets. High school diploma with vocational/technical training in equipment operation.
