Job Description: Under general supervision, to perform manual work involved in irrigation & plumbing maintenance of right-of-ways, boulevards, vacant lots, municipal building grounds, ball fields, and all city parks including park restrooms. Job Responsibilities: This position may perform as a lead worker at a work site with some supervision of a crew. Operate various types and sizes of equipment such as tractors, riding mowers, mulchers, edgers, ditchers, front loader, backhoes and lift bucket during the course of irrigation and plumbing maintenance of right-of-ways, boulevards, vacant lots, municipal grounds, ball fields, restrooms and city parks. Make needed repairs to irrigation heads, drip lines and water lines associated with the distribution of irrigation water to irrigated areas. Make needed repairs to park restrooms to assure available restroom facilities are available to park patrons in an efficient manner. Make needed repairs to park drinking fountains to assure availability of safe drinking water to park patrons in an efficient manner. Make needed repairs to aeration, irrigation and circulation pumps. Perform simple field repairs to equipment. Must have the ability to navigate a computer/ smart phone for entry of work order information into a work order system. Must be able to diagnose problems and make adjustments in a timely manner. Must be able to program, diagnose problems and install irrigation controllers. Troubleshoot, diagnose problems, and take appropriate action. Navigate a computer/ smart phone for entry of work order information into a work order system. Learn to operate a variety of equipment, tools, and vehicles including pick-up truck, ditch trencher, tractor, riding mower, push mower, edger, chain saw, string trimmer, and brush chipper. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Diagnose and make needed tree pruning or removal. Perform calculations and organize information to accurately complete reports. Display leadership to others through hard work and a great attitude. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work, both internally and externally.
