Economist – US Census Jobs in Washington

Job Description:

This vacancy is for multiple Economist positions located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.  The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line – Suitland Station. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Economist, GS-0110-12/13, FPL: 13 positions within the Census Bureau in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform economic analysis and/or research relative to the program(s) of the organization to which assigned.
• Plan and carry out projects for collecting detailed economic data which requires the complete understanding of the broad research plans, goals, principles, and polices governing analysis, tabulation, and reporting.
• Plan and carry out complex studies and analyses including determination of data needed to complete assignments, determine techniques for data processing and analysis, and planning the presentation of findings.
• Serve as a technical expert, consulting with program managers on proposed changes to surveys, identifying shortcomings in existing surveys, and conducting research aimed at improving the census and survey activities throughout the Census Bureau.

Job Requirements:

• U.S. Citizen.
• Suitable for Federal Employment.
• Registered for Selective Service, if applicable. (www.sss.gov)
• You may be required to complete a Financial Disclosure (OGE-450).

Qualification & Experience:

• economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
