Job Description:

The purpose of this position is to perform quality review and measurement of laboratory functions involved in environmental response, biological testing and/or processes of humans, animals, and their components, as well as pharmacology, or other related science research applications and activities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and consultation to functions performing biological or other scientific assessments within a CIO, and/or CDC/ATSDR concerning compliance with quality management systems, programs, regulatory guidelines, and standards.
  • Conduct quality reviews according to procedural criteria established in quality review plans for determining adherence to standards outlined for clinical laboratory practices.
  • Ensure quality policies, processes and procedures are implemented.
  • Assist in the development of goals and implements objectives, policies and priorities for the quality management system to ensure compliance with current emerging regulatory monitoring requirements, quality standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Coordinate and communicate laboratory monitoring program and laboratory quality systems/controls with CIO managers.
  • Evaluate testing methodology and techniques used and implements appropriate corrective action.
  • Assure work product conformance with policies, rules and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with management and employees to correct deficiencies. Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the fields of research laboratory monitoring and analytical quality assurance.
  • Ensure that the laboratory maintains appropriate accreditations under relevant regulatory laboratory quality standards. Serve as the laboratory’s primary liaison for audits, review committees, or third-party inquiries, such as assisting to conduct external quality assessments of laboratories to review laboratory data, document regulatory compliance and identify deficiencies.
