Job Description: Amended: BLM is seeking a dynamic individual to join the team to serve as a Wildlife Biologist in the Montana/Dakotas State Office, Division of Resources and Planning, Branch of Biological Resources and Science. Job Responsibilities: Provides program leadership for special status species occupying the sagebrush steppe; and serves as primary Bureau contact for proactive conservation actions, planning, and management. Serves as the principal advisor in the Montana/Dakotas State Office for policy and technical guidance related to conservation planning for sagebrush dependent species, with an emphasis on sage-grouse. Serves as the principal state level expert and contact for special status species research, and develops contracts, cooperative agreements, interagency agreements, and challenge cost share projects for sagebrush dependent species. Coordinates with other program leads to develop statewide budget proposals for the Specials Status Species program and analyzes and monitors implementation of these programs for compliance with funding levels and annual planned accomplishments. This position serves as a Wildlife Biologist in a Bureau of Land Management State Office. Major duties include but are not limited to: Participates on national teams that develop guidance and conservation measures for sagebrush dependent species, and provides input to statewide land use planning efforts, and NEPA documents to ensure compliance with species conservation plans. Responsible for integrating sagebrush ecology programs with related resource programs to achieve multiple use and ecosystem management goals and objectives. Provides technical assistance across Montana/Dakotas and coordinates with other State Offices on conservation planning for sagebrush dependent species.
