United State Army Corps of Engineers – Psychiatrist

Job Description:

The VA Western New York Healthcare System is currently looking for psychiatrists to join our team in treating our nations veterans at our Buffalo, NY facility.

Job Responsibilities:

• Medical Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Treatment, to include the medical evaluation and treatment in an alcoholism rehabilitation program of conditions commonly associated with alcoholism (e.g. liver disease and central nervous system dysfunction), utilizing consultants when appropriate. This privilege includes ordering psychopharmacological medications, providing consultation and individual and group counseling.
• Treatment of psychiatric disorders, to cover the routine practice of psychiatry, conducting a complete psychiatric evaluation (including for substance abuse), ordering any appropriate diagnostic evaluation, ordering psychopharmacological medications, providing consultation and liaison services, and performing individual psychotherapy.
• Other necessary duties as assigned by the Chief of Psychiatry

Job Requirements:

• You may be required to serve a probationary period
• U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
• Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process
• Participation in the seasonal influenza and Corona Disease (COVID-2019) Vaccination programs are requirements for all Department of
• Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel ( HCP)
• Subject to a background/security investigation
• Must be proficient in written and spoken English
• Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
• Must pass pre-employment physical examination
• Designated and/or random drug testing required
