Job Description:
Public Affairs Specialist, assigned to the New York District’s Public Affairs Office, responsible for planning and coordinating the dissemination of internal and external information relating the operations and activities associated with the missions, programs and projects of the District.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop public affairs plans and communication strategies in support of major missions and activities that leverage a variety of communication techniques and methods.
- Responsible for writing, editing, and layout and design of promotional products as well as proofing materials submitted for publication.
- Develop public affairs products including print, social media, broadcast and web-based media for dissemination to internal and external publics.
- Execute effective public outreach and public involvement that ensures the timely and accurate release of information and response to public and media.
- Coordinate information release with key stakeholders and the District leadership to ensure that external and internal information needs are being addressed.
- Represent the District and assigned programs and projects at meetings and media events.
Job Requirements:
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
