Job Description:

This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, at the George Bush Library. As a Museum Specialist, you will perform a variety of duties, including oversight for all objects and official records, in connection with the management of the library’s museum collections. The incumbent also carries out individual research and/or exhibit projects and performs a variety of public service duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accessioning and cataloging of the collections and maintains manual and automated collections inventories and file systems.
  • Manage the proper conservation, preservation, and restoration of collections where assigned.
  • Develop and implement improvements in utilizing space, identifies needs, and seeks solutions for additional space and equipment.
  • Supervise the movement of objects, especially those used in an active public performance environment.
  • Consider loan requests from outside sources and makes recommendations to colleagues regarding issues of the request and the safety of the objects.

Job Requirements:

Qualification & Experience:

  • A one year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
